Updated October 23, 2014

Christian Friederich Wilhelm Peterson, auctioneer, was recorded as a resident of Hong Kong from 1840s to 1896. Petersen succeeded Andrew Rudigar as the proprietor of the German Tavern when the latter died in 1858. He held the license for spirits for the tavern until his death in 1896. His second wife, A Chinese named Ho Mei, alias May Ho, took charge of the running of the tavern for a while. Petersen was previously married to an English woman, who died in 1878 from overdose on cajiput oil.
