Frederick Thomas Bush, merchant, was listed as a resident of Hong Kong from 1845 to 1850. He was the founder and proprietor of the mercantile firm, Bush & Co.. He was a director of the Hong Kong and Canton Steam Packet Co. in 1850. He was the Consul of the United States of America in Hong Kong in 1850. He was elected Vice President of the Royal Asiatic Society, China Branch in 1850. He sat in a number of committees including the Committee of Management of the Society for Relief of Sick and Destitute Foreigners, and the Board of Trustees and Managing Committee of the Seamen's Hospital in 1850.
