Augustus Carter, merchant, was listed a resident of Hong Kong from 1845 to 1850. He was a partner in the mercantile firm, Hegan & Co., in 1846. He traded under his own name [as opposed to name of a firm] in 1850 and was the Hong Kong agent of Birley & Co. and Blenkin, Rawson & Co., both of Canton. He was the Secretary and the Hong Kong Agent of the Hong Kong and Canton Steam Packet Co. in 1850. Carter was appointed Justice of the Peace (non-official) in 1850. Queen's Road was listed as his address in 1850.
