John William Smith, British Army officer, was listed as a resident of Hong Kong from 1844 to 1850. He was appointed Assistant Commissary General, Hong Kong on December 24, 1844.
Smith was awarded Companion of the Order of the Bath (CB) and Chevalier Légion d'Honneur in 1857 for the Crimean War.
