George Phillpotts, British Army officer, was listed as a resident of Hong Kong in 1850. He was the Commander of the Royal Engineers in Hong Kong in 1850. He was a trustee of St. John's Church in 1850. He was one of the three Vice Presidents of the Morrison Education Society in 1850. He sat in a number of committees including the Standing Committee of the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge; the Standing Committee of the Incorporated Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign Parts in 1850.
