Oswald, Richard

Richard Oswald, merchant, land speculator, was listed as a resident of Hong Kong in 1848. He was the proprietor of the mercantile firm, R. Oswald & Co., who in 1844 worked for the newspaper the Friend of China. Oswald was active in buying and selling land in Hong Kong.

Oswald died in London in 1850 at the age of 38. He was survived by his wife, Augusta.

Oakley, Horace

Horace Oakley, employee of the British Diplomatic Department, was listed as a resident of Hong Kong in 1846. He was an assistant in the Hong Kong Office of the British Plenipotentiary and Chief Superintendent of Trade in 1846.

Olding, J.A.

J.A. Olding, ships' agent, was listed as a resident of Hong Kong from 1846 to 1850. He was the Managing Agent of Peninsula and Orient Steam Navigation Company (P&O) 大英火輪船公司 between 1846 and 1850. He was a member of the Royal Asiatic Society, China Branch in 1850.

Olding died in 1865.
