Fenouil, Jean Joseph

The Rev. Jean Joseph Fenouil, Catholic priest, was listed as a resident of Hong Kong from 1847 to 1851. He and Father Joseph Chong were in charge of ministry at the Village of Aberdeen in 1850.

Fenouil was born in Rudelle, France on November 17 (or 18), 1821. He belonged to the Société des Missions étrangères de Paris (Society of Foreign Missions of Paris) 巴黎外方傳教會; he professed on August 7, 1844, was ordained May 29, 1847 and sent to Hong Kong in the same year. He left Hong Kong for Yuanan in China in 1851. He became the Vicar Apostolic of Yuanan on July 29, 1881 and the Titular Bishop of Tenedus on December 27, 1881. He died in Yuanan on January 10, 1907.
