J. Maclehose, tavern-keeper, was listed as a resident of Hong Kong in 1850. He ran a tavern named Fortune of War in 1850. Queen's Road was listed as his address in 1850.
The Commercial Inn on Queen's Road that opened in 1844 was owned and run by a man also name Maclehose [first name unknown]. I wonder if the two were the same person. The Lane Hotel (1841-1843) was said to be the first hotel existing in Hong Kong.
