Eyre, John J.

Jonh J. Eyre, British Army officer, was listed as a resident of Hong Kong from 1849 to 1851. He was the Commander of the Royal Artillery in Hong Kong.

Eyre was a noted botanist. He collected plants in Hong Kong along side Henry Fletcher Hance and Berthold Carl Seeman. Some of the plants he discovered were named in his honor: Eyrea vernalis Champ. ex Benth; Quercus eyrie Champ. ex Benth.
